Especially in underpriviledged urban districts playgrounds are often in deplorable conditions. Playground equipments such as these here in Morelia, Mexico, are simply defective and unsafe. They fail to meet the most basic safety standards. These playgrounds present an imminent risk of serious and permanent injuries to children who live and play in these areas.

SANTA CECILIA

Santa Cecilia

This playground is located in the Santa Cecilia neighborhood, in the city of Morelia, in Mexico. It is part of a healthcare center, where medical and dental care is provided to children. The play area measures 10 x 21 metres with two slides, six swings and a sea saw. The metal of all playelements has rusted over time and some of the swing chains are broken. The swing seats are unusable and represent a hazard to children.

Nepal only recovers slowly from the massive earthquake in May 2015. The Gurung inhabitants of the village of Hilekharka were in the middle of the epicentre of the earthquake. The KINDERHILFSWERK DRITTE WELT foundation is now providing funding for the construction of a new school. Following the new school building, we are planning for a new playground project in Hilekharka. The project will also include new school books and workshops for teachers and parents. More than 220 children will benefit from your donation!
